How should I change my hair?

I have longer hair, about 5 inches past my shoulders, I like the length and I have layers and side swept bangs. I tried straight across bangs but they look horrible on me. I usually wear it straight but with a little mess. But i'm so sick of it, I dont want to cut it but I want a new way of wearing it. How can i get that messy tousled look without looking like a slob? Any other suggestions are welcome!
